The Hawks took the lead early in the first when Patrick Kane scored on a breakaway after blocking a point shot from Roman Polak. The Blues tied it up late in the second when Paul Kariya fed David Backes from behind the net. Backes scored again on the power play with 1:31 left in the second. Jay McClement added the third goal on a deflection set up by a nice redemption play from Polak with 22 seconds left in the second. A third period goal from Marian Hossa made the game interesting, but Mason held on to get the Blues two points on the road. The win puts the Blues into 12th place, 5 points out of playoff spot with a game in hand on most teams.
